Carpets and Rugs by David S. Lawyer, April 2003 Carpets have seams that can come apart if not properly put together. Zippering is a long lengthwise pull. Double glued seam is strongest. Exist standard 104 for sommercial carpet. Best to use a power stretcher to stretch it when installing rather that "knee kicking". Face weight is in oz/sq-yard and doesn't include the weight of the backing. "Tuft bind" is the force requireed to puul out a single tuft (10-12 lbs). Deep stains will come back unless they are entirely washed out. Surface cleaning often doesn't get them out since they may be in the backing or the padding. But flooding them with water and detergent and squeezing will often get them out.
