1990 ACURA INTEGRA TRANSMISSION SHIFT POSITION; LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT If when you're driving in "drive" the green D light isn't on, it's likely just a burn-out light bulb. But it's not easy to replace. This note also applies to similar light bulbs indicating another shift position. But the D light is on the most and thus should be the first to burn out. This light-bulb is in the dashboard and indicates the transmission shift position (shift position indicator). It's a bulb without any number but it's a miniature bulb size T1 1/2 or T1.5, perhaps 14v. 100 ma. with a wire terminal base. Note that the T number signifies only the diameter of the bulb and not its length, base, voltage, or current. Most bulbs for the dashboard are 74's which is a T 1.75 with a wedge base. This will not work since it has the wrong base. A European 74 bulb exists, known as E74 which is T 1.5 but it also has a wedge base. As a substitute, use a 2162 bulb which is a T 1.75 with a wire terminal base. It will barely fit since it is slightly larger than the original no-number bulb. Purchased one from Bulbtown on the Internet for $0.70 plus $3.20 shipping. It is supposed to be 13.2 mm long but what they sent me was only about 11 mm long: Good! since 13 mm would almost touch the plastic colored lens. To access it, one must first remove the instrument panel and then the gauge assembly and disassemble it. Then remove both the speedometer and tachometer dial plates and then some plastic tabs will release the unit which contains the bulbs. More plastic tabs release the PCB which has the bulbs on it. Each bulb has a red rubber base which can be reused for the new bulb. One pulls up this base to remove a bulb, and then bends back the small wires and pulls the glass bulb out of its rubber base.
